Quick definitions for common wording you may see while customizing templates.

Subject line

The short email title that tells the recipient what the message is about.

Salutation

The greeting at the beginning of a letter, such as Dear Ms. Carter or Hello Taylor.

Notice

A written statement that tells someone about an upcoming change, such as moving out or resigning.

Reference number

An order, account, invoice, or case number that helps a company find your record.

Closing

The final sign-off before your name, such as Sincerely, Thank you, or Best.
